I’ve always admired strong and powerful women. Actually, “admired” sounds so weak… I adore them. You know these women, the floors are crushing beneath their heels. When they enter the room- it gets quiet. When they raise the voice- you know something bad is about to happen.
But since that virtue is never absolute when it comes to real human beings (nor I think it should be)- I kept my admiration for heroines found in books, movies and in this particular case TV show.
Yes I’m talking about Zelda Spellman from “Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina Spellman” currently streaming on Netflix.
You may or may not be familiar with that character. But shortly explained: her style is impeccable. She wears the clothes that makes women run for president. In my opinion, at least. Hey, I would run!
So it doesn’t come as a surprise that I had to “copy” something of hers, the piece that stayed in my head long after I finished the show- leopard bow blouse.
It took me a while to find the pattern that would satisfy my idea of this look. And the winning choice was Vogue V9029, you can get it here. View F in size 12 was everything I needed. Simple with instructions easy to follow.
My main problem in executing it was my laziness. I was too lazy to transfer all the markings (I have this huge tailor’s chalk that is very inconvenient). Finally, after finishing this project I bought the chalk pen. It’s so fun to use- that these problems are quickly becoming a part of history… I just wanted to mention it.
This beautiful fabric came from JOANN store, it’s this one. Very flowy but not sheer at all, it has an interesting feel on the skin. Bit slippery when sewing, so if you decide to get it- just get your nerves lubed first. But it’s definitely worth it. In my opinion, it looks stylish and expensive.
Conclusion: I love love love loveee it ❤
When I put it on, I feel so feminine, so classy, so… bad-ass. So I guess we could say- mission accomplished. I managed to achieve not only the look of Zelda Spellman, but also the confidence that attracted me to her character in the first place.
What is your favorite style icon? And do you have the pattern for it?
